Just picked up this gem for the mere price of $600. I think the wife has claimed it already tho. Anyway has no compression on #4 so hoping its just in the heads. Interior need a good scrubbing so little time and a little elbow grease I hope to have this turd polished up!

Not sure what my plans are yet. Might be the wife mobile. Might strip everything off my truck and put on it. Definetly wont get a big block tho, the reason for getting it was more economic family hauler. Would like to swap a 9.5 14 bolt tho when the rear end blows. Probably keep the 4l60e and might go AWD

If it involves an nv149 and an 4l80e adapter, I'm in.

Mileage eh? Junkyard 6.2L with an 8 speed trans, keep the AFM. Done. Hell, the 6 speeds in a Suburban 5.3 with AFM will pull down in the 20s when you drive them nice. The extra juice in a 6.2 should keep it in 4cyl mode longer than a 5.3.

by mileage I meant better than my 8.1 gets. while its a very comfortable truck to drive my ass puckers every time i fill it. My other truck pulls of 17 easy but is not as roomy. But for ultimate MPG machine I have thought about an LS swap. Just not sure I want that much project or to spend that kind of money.

So it appears to me its dropped a valve seat on cyl#4, no compression and leakdown test fills a glove over the tail pipe. the exhaust valve tip is also lower than the intake valve, backing off rocker immediately makes rocker loose, so no preload. Also see slight piston contact through my borescope, valves cant really be seen. They are the 062 castings, I do have a pair of 906 castings laying around but condition is un known. Machine shop says he almost always sees the 906 heads cracked. So Im thinking buy new GM heads and slap this thing back together. So are the 12558060 heads what I want from GM?

Nice job. Nice vehicle for what you have into it.
Your helper is a cutie. I miss those days, my girls are both married now.
