Here is your chance.  This 1987 Military H1 Humvee will run a quarter mile sprint in 12.8 seconds, reaching over 100 mph.  

 

The engineers and technicians at Pacific Performance Engineering (PPE) stripped down this former USMC Humvee and rebuilt it from the ground up.  The structural and drive-train upgrades to this vehicle are substantial.  This Humvee is built for rugged on or off pavement performance, not the fluff and glitter found in suburbanite Hummers.

 

This Humvee is significantly lighter and more durable than a civilian-based Hummer.  With speed in mind, PPE engineers and technicians used the lightest components available in order to optimize durability and performance.

 

 

PPE removed the original GM 6.2L engine, replacing it with a technologically advanced GM Duramax 6.6L Turbo Diesel engine, using custom engine mounts engineered and fabricated by PPE for the installation.  After the new engine was installed, the engine computer was reprogrammed using PPE’s Hot+2ET Race/Hotrod Tuner.  PPE also added a PPE/Garrett GT4094R Turbo kit to the engine. These upgrades allow this Humvee’s engine to produce 650 hp and 1,320 ft.-lb. of torque.

 

PPE engineered and fabricated custom mounts for the installation of the High Performance Allison Overdrive transmission, which replaced the old Turbo 400 3-Speed transmission.  This transmission with  its locking billet multi-disc torque converter accommodates the increase in horsepower and torque while yielding impressive fuel economy.

 

The exterior aesthetics of the vehicle are largely unchanged.  The vehicle still has its original military paint job and markings while the old soft-top and doors have been replaced with newer doors with similar markings, keeping its rough military look.  In the passenger cab, new seats have been installed and a new, hand-made dashboard was created to house the various modern electronic gauges and new Duramax electronic instrument cluster.
