Post 4L80E vs. Allison
I have noticed that the 4L80E was put behind everything from the V6 to the Duramax. We all know how well it stands up to powerful smallblocks. How does it stand up behind the Duramax? As far as I know the Allison only came behind the 8.1L and the Duramax. It has to be beefed up when a Duramax is modified. How does it stand up behind a modified big block? What kind of mileage does the 8.1L get with the Allison?

Dont know much about the Allison but my cousin is a tech specializing in them Ill check with him and get back to you. Pretty amazing trans from what I understand. Dont know if anybody has a stand alone controller yet or if it can be controled with a 411.

Aside from being a completely different mfg.
It has more gears that are short. and the allison is purposebuilt to be tough and adaptive.
They did put 4L80e's behind duramax's in the vans and this resulted in reduced HP.

so i would say the allison has more off the line capacity.
