Any of you guys with 4L80Es have shifting issues after the swap. Mine is shifting really strange into second. It almost feels like it is slipping but I am pretty sure that it isn't. Prior to the swap I never had this issue. It is only noticeable when I am at 50% or more TPS. It will go to shift and the RPMs will drop slightly and then it will engage into second. When It does engage it shifts just as firm as the rest of the gears.

Yes, mine did the same. You need to "up" the line pressure by roughly 10% or more and also reduce the "time" it takes to make the 1-2 and 2-3 shift.\ in the tune and your golden after that

I have my shift times set to .2 sec across the board and the shift pressure roughly 10% more than stock across the board. Did you go with any less time on the shifts?

I always set my last several cells to 96 to max out the line pressure... But I do also use 0.2 sec across the board. Trans Adapts turn off when set to 0 according my GM guru...

I concur Trans Shift Adapts are indeed shut off when zeroes are entered. This what some prominent GM PCM tuners do when shift kits are installed.

This may seem like a dumb question, but how do I wire the auxiliary fan so the computer controls it?

Post 411 Swap
I recently was informed about the idea of swapping the ECM's on the older 96 vortecs. I was looking at getting a blackbear tune, but was told it wouldn't work on my black boxed '96. Soo.. brings me here.

Currently, my old girls a '96 GMC 2500, 5.7L (8bolt wheels) 4x4 bone stock. I'm thinking about doing a few things down the road, ie.. headers, remove cats, remove EGR, electric fans, CAI, and probably spider upgrade kit to injectors when i do the intake gaskets that are know to leak.

I was told to look for a 2000 GMC fullsize fan, with im assuming same eng/trans combo, does it need to be a 4x4 also? Also then, will there be issues with pulling cats/EGR?

Gonna keep reading these 49 pages and see what if i can find a few answers im missing. its almost midnight, so eyeballs aint workign to well atm Razz

seem's Lextech's the guy giving out a wiring diagram/sheet, if you could slide that over to me sir's.. or mam.. Razz troygillis@hotmail.com

Thanks.

I will shift properly in regular 4 HI but for some reason it does not take in account the 4LOW input and change the shifting tables by a certain ratio for 4-LOW

I found this while digging around for some transfer case wiring info and remembered reading about it in this thread Seems the guys switching to the manual t case were having the same problems with 4 low shifting. They hooked up pin C3 in the TCCM to a switch that goes to ground. I'm guessing it could be added in to the existing wiring when keeping the NP243?

From this thread, more pinouts for the Auto-trac case and newer trucks in there also

I just wanted to say a thank you to Lextech. His wiring file and his starter tune got my 97 S10 up and running with the 0411 update. My in-laws live about 20 miles from him so I was able to drop by his house over the weekend and get one of his ECM's with a starter tune. He was polite and professional and I wouldn't hesitate to do business with him again. Thanks for you time Jeff.

So chalk up another 4.3 with a 0411 update.

Good find on the TCCM wiring. I read through the 7 pages at GMFS... So some where in the 411 swap we are loosing this ground switch (nv243)? The black box is some how applying ground to this circuit where as the 411 is not? I havent looked at the 411 wiring file recently to see if the answer sticks out there.

That was my guess, the conditions they were describing sound the same.

So I just did a cam swap on my L29 and I have got the tuning pretty much dead on except for the start up. After the swap the truck doesn't want to start without a bit throttle. Once it starts I have to run it up to 12 or 1300 rpms to get it to clear up and idle. It idles fine after it clears but it won't do it unless I clear it out. It is doing it both when cold and hot. Anyone on here have any insight on this?

That's some pretty interesting info on grounding that pin.
Shouldn't be too difficult to install a relay that works with the 4LO button in th dash being pushed....to ground that pin. I'll try it out when I get a chance.

Do you have efilive? if so there is a spread sheet that takes your "VE" table and converts that data to the correct start up air flow table..... when I did this mine starts like a factory tuned motor but I installed a larger cam in my 454 as well

So....in looking through my wiring diagrams....I find there is no Dark green/White.
I'm thinking the grey/black is the correct wire?

If it's the AutoTrac case then yes according to the info in that thread. Pin F7. It may be totally wrong and not work, if it is then I can edit these posts so no bad info gets passed along

That pinout you posted says Automatic Shift Case Wiring Diagram?

EDIT: It just clicked yours is an export, 98 was the 1st year for autotrac (NP246) in the States so most likely it will be wired like that 1st diagram (NP243)
