Post Refresh rate on LCD
Does it matter what its set at on an LCD?
I just bought an acer al1714. Its friggin sharp with like a 14ms response time. But I dont really see a difference in 60hz and 85hz at that resolution.

As far as I know you're supposed to run them at 60hz. LCDs don't "refresh" like CRTs. A CRT is repainting the screen line-by-line top to bottom at such a rate (ie 60, 75, or 85 times a second) to fool your eyes into thinking there's a complete image on the screen. Thus the effect when you take a picture of a CRT with a high shutter speed where you only see a few lines of the screen drawn.

Ok.
So its a 13ms monitor. Thats about 73 updates a second. Which is about a 75hz CRT monitor if I am correct.
This is theory, assuming that the LCD screen is needing to change colors for a full second.
