Hey guys over the winter I bought a new to me 97 chev excab 350 2wd loaded with 200000km...(120thou miles ish). Last week the tach needle started jumping all over the place anywhere from idle to 6 grand...sometimes it reads correct but not for very long. Its annoying the crap out of me cuz its very distracting all the other gauges are fine....any ideas? I tried a search and came up with nuthing.....Lorne

Haywire,

Your instrument cluster may need to be rebuilt/replaced. I had my replaced through a company that does this for GM. However, the cluster is no longer available to be ordered through GM. Only this place:

Call them up, they will tell you what you need to do even though you are not a GM dealer. It will cost about $250 roughly. It took about a week for turn around time. My cluster works great!
