Post No more humvee?
Im listening to armed services committee duke it out, and the brid generals are all saying that the humvee is just a sucessor to the jeep and never was intended to carry all the heavy metal and armour that it does (and the liberal media continues to pound the government for not 'putting enough armour' on the hummers). They are saying that it just doesnt have the horses and suspension thats needed now days and are considering building their own vehicle from the ground up.

Maybe once replaced, all of the old Humvees will be converted to driverless mode, like this:

(a project started by your forum creator!) Cool

They need to hire Tim Allen and add MORE POWER! Argh Argh Argh!!!

Sounds like they need to make a Super HUMVEE

Or maybe these can handle the extra weight

Speaking as one who may one day have to go to war, I think I'd rather not have to depend on a new GM truck. I'd rather they go ahead and build their own. I'd like to see a diesel hybrid be made the replacement for the Hummer, maybe some 700HP/1200TQ monster with a tank-style reactive armor body and armored glass that can double as a fuel-efficient generator. Course, we can also just keep the old CUCVs too. We have several at my unit, still humming along just fine.

In my opinion just fix the Hummer. They fit into tight places needed in hand to hand battles.

How much cash are they going to sink down this hole?
and if they don't make it versatile they'll just build another knock off of the Hummer down the road anyway.
The military is never cost conscious.

I wonder if the ones they are still using are the ones that had the old turbo diesel.
