and its all done! After dropping a valve, and thousands of hours chasing my tail because of one tiny little parameter(injector timing) trying to tune it, its done. Thank god.

It put down 389hp/422tq corrected on a dynojet today. I am one happy camper.

Hello, I'm new here. I was wondering what marine engine you got this setup off of? I have a '97 Tahoe, how hard is the wiring to switch over to the injectors?

Welcome to the PPE truck site, you are in right spot for L31 info.
The wiring is easy, just 16 wires, 8 pink grounds and 8 colour coded wires.

This is the colour coded diagram for the injector harness. Just remember to crimp, solder, seal just like GM does when repairing wiring.

Thanks for the reply. I believe I can find the intake setup. There is a big boat salvage lot here in eastern NC. This looks like a Mercruiser setup. Shouldn't be hard to find.

Hog,

The pink are 12v positive with key on. And the colored wires are individually grounded by the ECM to fire each injector

Thanks man, so pinks are hot and the coloured grounds are switched for pulsewidths? Do you know what this kind of setup is called? I remember the neame being mentioned on here somewhere. Is it a "switched ground" system?

Disregard my faulty advice, but follow the diagram and you will have nothing but joy.

I know a guy that just picked up a more common crossram marine intake, the one that mimicks the stock L31 intake. He put an add up on the Offshore Only website.

For part numbers I do a Yahoo or google for "Mercruiser PArts" snd get here
http://www.mercruiserparts.com/
then here
http://www.mercruiserparts.com/mercruiser_parts.asp Then click on "search with pics." or search with "p/n's" Then click on the "intake manifold and fuel rail" page to see what you are looking at. If it comes up" intake manifold and front cover"" as your only search paramaeter, that engine will be a carb of TBI™ engine. The Vortec 4 intake bolt head stuff comes in after 196 in teh boats.

There are tunnel rams for pre Vortec heads.
There are tunnel rams for Vortec GEN + heads
There are teh cross ram L31 style for Vortec heads
There are the TBI™ intake for Vorytec heads
TBI™ intake for non Vortec heads
MPI intake for Vortec heads like the one installed in this thread.

I just found what you are looking for
350 MAGNUM MPI ALPHA/BRAVO (GEN+) ENGINE is the sub assembly
0L010019 THRU 0L339999 and0L331599 THRU 0M299999 is the serial number range any higher is the cross ram intake.

Copy and paste of the intake and fuel rails page with your intake highlighted p/n 861422A5 is what you want

It is a switched ground to fire system but was called sequential fire. The older mercruiser (GM )systems were batch fire with 2 injector drivers which had 4 injectors on each driver., now most all systems are sequential with 1 driver per cylinder and I have only seen systems that fire the injector by grounding one side, maybe this keeps the heat out of the driver (s)?

Hog, thanks for all the info! I am planning a build this spring for my '97 Tahoe 4x4. I want just a little more than stock and this looks the way to go. I want to be able to still be streetable. I sold a S10 with a big inch sbc that was fun but not to streetable!

Ebay
Craigslist
Michigan Motorz They have the L31 shaped crossram in stock for only $1800 brand new lol.

http://www.michiganmotorz.com/

Michigan Motorz also sells the full tunnelram style intake as well. 400hp engine

KEM Equipment has sold some intakes to members here.

Try marine shops, usually by the water. Dual plane you are seeking, is old enough now that there should be some take offs somewhere. Just be sure that you have the part number handy s theer are a lot different intake manifolds, even ones with the Vortec 8 total intake manifold bolts.

Thanks Pauly, I've checked all those places. I have a local shop that works only on volvo penta engines looking. I was hoping the OP would comment on the extra ones he knows about....
