98 savana blackbox to 0411

Post by 2500Savana4x4 »

I finished reading this thread last night and am really impressed with the amount of information presented here, great research and work. I'm getting started on converting my '98 L31 powered savana to an 0411 this weekend. I believe I have the correct pinouts for the 98 blackbox and 0411 and was going to start comparing the pinouts. I pulled an 0411, mounting bracket and about a foot of harness with the red/blue connectors from an 01 Express a couple of weekends ago, my van's engine is completely stock with 199K on the odo. I've been doing research on what to build to replace the original L31 with, this van is rather heavy (7500lbs on the scales at the local metal recycler) as it is an extended cargo van that I converted to 4WD using a D60 front axle and swapped out the original SF14Bolt for a FF14Bolt. Reading all this got me motivated to do the 0411 swap first on the original engine and learn to tune it with EFILive before I start building an engine for it. Does anyone know if Lextech is still emailing the pinout spreadsheet? That would likely save me some time and frustration if it is still available.

If anyone here has done this swap and has an efi live file, with everything sorted with calibrations please contact me, I built a 383 stroker with a mild cam, I'm at the stage were Ive had the motor running on the old computer, swapped everything over to 0411, I got a base tune file but something is wrong with it. I keep getting $0541, my
File is a ctz saved file, but between me and my tuner we can't figure out how to remedy this.

Hey Lextech,
I’m hoping to do this swap sometime in the next few weeks. I sent you a PM earlier in hopes of getting the spreadsheet.

Thanks!

Wire harness

Post by earthx »

Question for you guys.....
I've just finished rebuilding my '97 Vortec 350 that is getting installed in a classic truck. I'll be purchasing a brand new wire harness from painless as soon as you can help me answer the following....

Specs as follows:
-marine intake
-whipple SC
-all new sensors
-re tuned 411 ecu

My question is since I need the 411 connectors and the 8 individual injectors wiring would it work to buy a harness meant for a 1999-2006 GM Gen III 4.8/5.3/6.0L with mechanical TB? -- Painless https://www.painlessperformance.com/wc/60217

Painless for 1996-99 GM Vortec 5.0 & 5.7L V8 (CMFI) -- https://www.painlessperformance.com/wc/60212

I've looked over the instructions for the Gen III harness and compared it to the the 5.7 Vortec harness and they are very similar, except that the Gen III already has the connectors for the 411 and the x8 injectors.

Any advise is much appreciated!

Why would you want to spend $636.00 on a harness that will not interface with your truck? Why not get some new (or used) injector pigtails and 2 80 pin LS1b PCM connectors and rework your trucks harness to run the Gen3 engine?

This engine is going into a classic truck, so I don't have an existing harness.

I'm really confused with the need to splice into the trans harness on a 2000 4.3 to 0411 swap. the 2000 S10 schematic clearly shows PRNDL A, B, C and P on pins "C3 Grey/White" 31, 32, 28 and 26. Do the black box pcm pins not actually go to the trans?

411 swap for 1998 chevy 3500

Post by 88ZNX »

Hi I am new here I just found this forum. I recently built a 383 with a TPI and installed in my 98 Chevy 3500 with 4L80e trans. I had it Dyno tuned 249hp 460tq. The tuner told me if I swap to 411 pcm he could tune it much better. So I got the vin from a 2000 Chevy expres van that comes with the 5.7 vortec engine and 4L80e trans and bought the pcm. Now Im looking for this pin out spreed sheet That I see Everyone taking about how can i get a copy.

I am also doing the same build for a 1997 2 door Tahoe and noticed the black box has a 5th plug. Will this pin out spreed sheet explain what to do with it?
thanks for any help.

Is this forum still alive? As I can see it hasn't been active for a long time.
