Post 305 to 350 in '87 Elky
My 1987 305 is really tired, so I'm planning a 350 swap. This is a Cali car so smog is an issue - planning to use Edelbrock 3701 cam to match 305 timing, but I wonder if the extra displacement will give problem with the stock computer. This is a carbureted engine. Anybody have a pearl of wisdom?
Thanks!!

I don't think you using a 305 tune will work well unless you contacted one of the old tuner guys like at fastchip and see if he can actually program the actual "chip" for you.

He said it was a computer controlling it so I assumed it was an old throttlebody injection

87 would be an L03 TBI™ engine. All the parts responsible for making a SBC into a TBI™ are in the distributor and TBI™ itself. Use your 305's water pump because the one from the 350 will be the wring rotation. It will work, may stumble a little bit when cold in open loop but it will learn.
