 Dammit, I'm getting old...
Stuff's starting to go bad.
I'm not gonna make it there in one piece.
My back failed years ago, but like an old Chevy truck with a bent frame I don't let it stop me.
At least the hair's still there. No male in my lineage has died bald no matter how long they lived.
But, other stuff's going out.
Gall bladder went bad, I'm getting it taken out as soon as the surgeon can get me in. It hasn't blown out yet, but it's full of stones.
Bummer.
At least it won't interfere with the wife's upcoming back surgery. Said if they use the tubes to suck it out I'll be back on my feet in a few days.
Oh well, could be worse, I guess.

I know how you feel. My dad used to always say getting old's not for sissy's.

Well, luckily this means nothing to me. Already had a heart scare (atrial flutter, resolved, felt like I was having a heart attack EVERY SINGLE NIGHT), so the optional organs aren't going to faze me at all. Since they're going to be in there anyway, I wonder if they'd give me a toofer and yank my appendix too?

I'm having surgery Monday. I had surgery on my left ear in 1978, botched, and I've been deaf in that ear ever since. They are going to try and fix it. I figured, well... nothing to lose in letting them try, and the docs and audiologists think I can get my hearing back. That'd be swell. Other than that, I'm almost 59 and really healthy. My blood pressure was 120/70 at my physical a couple weeks ago, and 130/80 yesterday at the pre-op appt. (I was nervous). Good genes and good scotch, that's the secret.

And here I am bitching about having to take off my glasses to read the crackberry. That started this year. My mom was teasing that I will soon need bi-focals.

Speeder you sound like me. everything is falling apart. I had a kidney stone this past weekend. Had it surgically removed. Lez had gall stones. Not fun at all. Very painful. Good luck with your surgery.

I had to get those for my first pair of glasses. Mine are progressive lenses.

I should really have glasses now, things are getting a little blurry. I used to be able to read street signs (the small ones on side streets) from a half mile away, now I can't read them till I'm on them. It sucks. My wife and kids just laugh. All of them have had coke bottle glasses all their lives. The wife had them until she had laser surgery which gave her even better eyesight than I had at the time.
Thanks on the luck for surgery. I'm more worried about having to give up fats and gassy food in my diet than I am getting sliced open. For example, I LOVE broccoli and cheese.

Lezlie has to watch that stuff too. She had hers removed in 2004, she wasn't cut open like my cousin was. Gallbladder problems run in my family. I was checked for that when we were trying to find my pain problem. Mine is good. I have no appendix either. That was removed along with 100cm of my small intestines. I lost another 20cm with the second resection. I am glad that is all that was removed. I was having headaches so Lez had me see an eye doctor. not thinking I needed glasses. I cannot read the tv when looking for shows without them. I still see alright just cannot read. I had to get used to progressive lenses, when you shoulder check. Things get blurry.

Sonovabiscuiteater this thing hurts! Had the gall bladder taken out yesterday, all through tubes. On a 1 to 10 on the pain scale, the actual work area is about a 4. No problems, except when I go from standing to sitting, or sitting to standing. What hurts is my freakin' right shoulder. If I cough, burp, whatever, it feels like somone's sticking a knife in my right shoulder and it feels like an 8-9 on the pain scale. The surgeon said they didn't know why this was a side effect of a gall bladder removal, but it is. The main part of the pain is supposed to last about 3 days, which means I won't be missing any work which is a good thing. I really didn't want to burn any vacation time for this.
Oh, and on the diet, so far so good. Nothing has upset my stomach yet. The big test will be next week, when I attempt a lovely lovely steak dinner.

Good luck with it Speeder.
Hope you feel better soon.
Must be something about the shoulder and surgery. I had a hiatal hernia fixed back in 95 and my shoulder hurt like a b**ch when I woke up. Who knows what they really do to you when your asleep on the table. Tie you up like a chicken and use you for a pinata is what I felt like.
Get better, there's work to be done.

The Mrs. just got her results back today from the doctor. She has a problem with her gall bladder - full of stones too, and possibly another cyst. Doc says they can get to everything laproscopically. The Doc said to get her in as soon as possible. Must mean that hers is getting near critical as well.
Geez.

Nope. I was only in 6.5 years with another year in the National Guard. I only regret two things, getting out of the Army and joining the National Guard. All the way in or all the way out is the way.

Definitely get her in as quick as possible. If it ruptures they'll have to carve her up like a Christmas ham to get at it and it'll be a minimum 6 week recovery, and will cost far more to boot. Lapriscopically, it's just 4 holes. One in the belly button, the other three about 3-4 inches away at 9:00, 10:30 and 12:00. Should be minimal to no scarring when it's all said and done. I don't care about scars being male, but females can be sensitive about them.

I'm not going down without a fight dammit!
Started The Couch to 5k in 9 weeks running program and lifting weights again. (going to wrestle the drivetrain again soon)
A better understanding of how the nervous system affects strength and how muscles grow makes for a much more effective workout.
Hope you and the misses get to enjoy the better side of life soon. All the best.

Hope things get better soom for you. I don't worry about scars either. I have lots. Wife eats steak with no issues so you should be fine. Bacon grease and gravy might get too you.
