Post 383 problem
I decided to build a 383 for my pickup its a 1998 chevy, I got all my parts and machine work done and the machine shop is a scat dealer so I had them order the kit, well I have got the cam in and now the # 5 rod is hitting the Cam and I am running the factory roller cam, am I wrong, I thought you should be able to run factory cam with no clearance issues? I don't know what the deal is from what I have seen of other kit they are using a H beam rod with bolts not factory type rods with studs like I have. Your insight would be appreciated.

Some stroker "kits"(eagle sells a rod shaved in the edge for stroker applications) use Rods that are purposely ground and clearanced for this reason and other clearance issues. Depending on which route you went(3.75" stoke +.030 bore) or(3.8" stroke +std bore) the connecting rod's edge gets a lot closer to the cam than with the stock 3.48" stroke crankshaft.
The good news is you can have the machine shop grind a flat (edge) on the edge of the
Rod to clearance the cam but the assy needs to be re-balanced also. And you are set!

I thought they were getting the rods made for this application so I would not run into this but I guess not.

They should have known this if they are a machine shop. I'd question them closely on why this happened.
