Zero snow up here as well (or over here depending on where in Michigan you are), the sun was really hot through the bay windows of the servery at work this morning as I was dispensing meds this AM.
Great for driving, but I'm sure it sucks for those snow loving individuals such as you z71gmc06. Sleds are a ton of fun, what size engine is your triple?

Hog,
It's a 700 triple. Yamaha SXR for those of you who know sleds. Goes as fast as I need to go. The triple pipes I just put on are 20 pounds lighter and are supposed to give me another 20 horsepower. I just need some snow so I can check my jetting before going on any extended rides.[/quote]

I don't know much about snow-machines, but I'm sure that 700cc triple would fly. My only 2 stroke triple cylinder experience was on water. I owned a 1997 Yamaha GP 1200 Waverunner that I bought new.
In the PWC(Personal Water Craft) world there are Stand-Ups (which are typical Jet-Ski's) these are the machines where there is a long arm that connects to the top/front of the macjine and the free end has the controls. Then there are Runabouts where you sit down to ride. I didnt enjoy the stand-ups much but doing triucks can be cool, I prefer high speed cruising and rough water/boat wake-jumping so a Runabout was for me.

The 97 GP came in 760 twin and 1200cc triple. My 1200cc was rated at 135 hp@6800rpm. The GP series was the replacement for the WaveRaider in the Yamaha lineup. The WaveRaider was the PWC that had the unique straked hull from front to back. Starting in 97 the GP series used a bew hull design without bow to stern strakes. This hull design from 1997 is still in use by some race teams to this day.
IIRC 2009 was the last year that Yamaha offered a 2 stroke triple engine in any of their PWC's, the only 2 stroke engine in ANY PWC from ANY manufacturer is the Yamaha VX700S which makes 80hp@10,000rpm. The 701 cc engine has been around since 1993. The 701 is akin to the Vortec 4.3 engine for GM, its a good reliable engine and just keeps going and going.

Yamaha's newer muscleboat engine is the 1812cc inline 4 cylinder 4 stroke engine, it can be had either naturally aspirated with an 11.0:1 and the centrifugally supercharged version gets a lower 8.6:1 compression ratio. These newer engine make well over 200hp stock, but these newer machines weigh over 850lbs, some over 1000lbs.

My GP1200 was a 2 seat machine, but most PWC's now are 3 seat or 4 seat. No more 2 seaters as that would limit the buying market too much. To legally tow a wakeboard or water skier, you must have a seat for the driver, must have a seat for the actual skier/boarder and MUST have a seat for the spotter which is legally required whenever skiiing or boarding.

There was a guy that had a Stalker handheld radar gun at the dock the 1 day I was at Turkey Point on the North end of Lake Erie. Trimmed out on a very smooth lake my speed was 58.6 mph. That boat would do 0-50mph in 3.8 or 3.9 seconds IIRC. Once the revs were up a bit that thing pulled HARD. These newer machines now have Tractrion Control because the engines are so powerful the impellers will sit there and cavitate in teh water. The 2012 supercharged Yamaha's claim a 0-30mph in 1.5 seconds with the nearest Sea-Doo doing 0-30mph in 1.8 seconds.

All this talk of PWC's sure has me horny for another machine. Maybe a newer powerplant in an older hull?

Are the newer snowmobiles getting heavier the newert they are like the PWC's (and trucks for that matter)?

peace

My sled is a 91 polaris SKS with a 670 doo motor its a frankensled wife has a 97 700RMK. Mountain sleds are getting lighter as far as the chassis goes but also heavier with the longer tracks some are even getting smaller motors because they have lightened them up so much. Not a 4 stroke toy fan 2 strokes are simple and light and run great but thats also another debate. I also have 2 86 honda 250r four wheelers also 2 stroke one with a 330 big bore kit on it.

So there I was waiting for the light to change on a snowy going home rush hour when suddenly baBAM!! A 328 bimmer hits me from behind. WTF? I had passed it at the previous light and I was now stopped for like 10s! It's not like it was black ice, it was snowing for a while! How can someone misjudged it so bad?

I was surprised how hard the hit was. Luckily the hitch took the hit with no damage, unfortunately my right exhaust pipe is now shorter 4". Mad

Bummer. Make sure to get yourself checked out. It can take a few days before an auto injury will show.

So far as snow, it's gonna be like 64 tomorrow, was in the 70s yesterday and today. Way better than 2 years ago when it was 20 below and snow all over.
