Post 4L80E 4Lo Shift Problem
So I was staring at a 4l80E sitting at my shop today ones a 2wd ones a 4wd and the 2wd one has an input and output speed sensor on the side of it while the 4wd just has an input and uses the transfercase output sensor. my question is this why they dont shift in 4lo with the 411 pcm? That the computer is seeing such a wierd difference that shoudnt be there? As far as I know on a manual shift transfercase the computer has no idea if your in lo or hi. So what if you did away with the output on the transfercase and used the one on the trans? Yes your speedo wouldnt work correctly in lo but who cares your not gonna go 80 mph in lo. Any thoughts on this or anyone tried it?

The 4low will shift properly in the 0411 now (with a 4l80e) as I just tried it yesterday with the file that was made and posted on efilive forum. I also noted this in the other discussion about this topic.
the ecm gets a ground signal when in 4 low and changes the shift points in a manual shift transfer case and the electric shift also.

Yes this would work as long as the pcm doesnt have the 4 lo file and think its really in 4 low. But since the 4 lo issue has been solved then theres no reason to need anything like this. every thing just works as normal with the correct file.

It was with the stock operating system unfortunately.... I didnt really try to get it running all the way right since i am choosing not to use my MAF
(because i am not smart enough to make a maf table corectly) and using closed loop speed density.
but If i get some time i will "try" at some point to use that file and make a custom operating system and see what happens
What is funny to me... A while back i "tried" to swap the segments with a 4x4 02 model 2500 truck and had no luck with this.......
evidently i didnt know what i was doing in the segment swap area on efilive!!! lol
Im glad this works though... it will be nice one day if i ever need to crawl around in 4low at a boat ramp or off-road at some point.
thanks again S10mods

I have been working on the "working" 4x4 4L80e tune(to later convert it to COS3 and try 4-low) on my setup off and on and was VERY surprised that with all the data copied over from my original tune like cyl volume/ injector tables/flow rate/ ve table/ spark/comanded AFR/ and many many more.......... the truck needed 23% more added to the VE table just to get the long Term fuel trims in the correct range enough to have it run alright.
does anyone why this could be? is there more to the "behind the scenes" math to different operating systems to where even if all other parameters are the same the value of the VE table needs so much more work? I know Howard ran into this a while back and wasn't surprised when I had a similar situation. I am just curious is all.

you didn't copy all the exact tables from the stock OS to the COS did you? the reason I ask is that the commanded fuel table in the COS is ALOT different than the commanded fuel in the stock OS. the COS is based off of MAP vs RPM, where the stock OS is MAP vs ECT. so simple numerical transfer between the 2 wouldn't be accurate.

On mine the VE table on the COS3 was RPM/MAP and also on the 4x4 van tune it was RPM/MAP for table {B0101}

if everything is hooked up correctly and you are using that file like on efilive that s10mods swapped the engine/tranny segments over for then it will shift properly. the issue was all in the tune
if you do not have efilive then you will have to get someone to make a custom tune for you.
