EFILive will read BCM codes. On my '04 it was able to tell me which actuator bit the dust in its overly electronic climate control. Had a few other codes for various other interior issues. These were four digit codes just like the OBDII codes but preceded by "B" rather than "P". I didn't think most ...

Ya'll seen this?? :) Ford vs Chevy 1 ton frame bending Unreal http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TKMQjm7i2Jw No surprise there. 2500HD frame was redesigned for 2010 (2011?) to be fully boxed, and is thus quite torsionally rigid. I think Chevy is the only one doing a fully boxed HD. 2009 2500HD ought to...

Not on here much anymore, but very sorry to hear this and hope they're able to get it corrected ASAP. Have friends who deal with *serious* back pain/disc issues and have seen just how not-fun that can be.

I bought one of these (Sierra is now Mom's in NJ). The better forum is fordraptorforum.com. That raptorforumz.com is equivalent to FSC....actually quite a bit worse. It's run by a dictator-a$$hole who bans people who even suggest that the giant flashing advertisements floating over content might be ...

Thanks! Just crawled under it and hit em all again. I *HATE* the idler/pitman arm ones, 4wd+skid plate package really makes those fun. Will go take it for a drive in a few. Anything you recommend as far as grease? Typing "high pressure grease" into google yields an extremely unexpected, hilarious, a...

Steering groan, 2004 1/2 ton 4wd

Hi all, haven't been on in a long time...but truck has finally started giving me a small bit of grief. My 04 has 55k on it now, and has developed a groan in the steering. It's always when turning left, typically fairly sharply, i.e., steering wheel rotated at least 270 degrees to the left. The best ...

Several years ago a friend of mine moved using a double axle UHaul trailer behiing his Taurus wagon. He went to UHaul who installed the hitch on his car and rented him the trailer. As soon as he got on the interstate and went downhill the trailer started "pushing" the car down the hill. This causes...

I'm a Linux user. I *strongly recommend* Mac, especially to all those friends/family who think I'm their personal IT department. I'm so tired of "Why is my computer so slow?" Because you bought it at Best Buy, after I told you not to, and it's loaded with 3000 bullshit crapware programs that subsidi...

17k for a used Malibu seems like WAY too much. Around here Dodge dealers are marking quad cab 2wds down to 20k. Ford Fusions can be had for 12k. Even Toyota/Honda stuff is super cheap.

Craftsman's mechanics tools are still made here, correct? cant say either way, but if they are still here - where do you think the steel is coming from? me thinks China - cuz its cheaper there is a quality difference from the newer stuff compared to the old stuff - they try to make it all polished ...

Love the setup. If you still only have one screen, you're missing out. But agree on the idea that some of "that stuff" is certainly not good for society....i.e., not a fan of the current 900 levels of financial abstraction and leveraging / lending that makes possible our "financial industry", which ...

Think it's pretty much becoming standard on everything...even Chevy trucks have it across the board now as standard equipment. As I understand it, it actually has a significant effect on accident rates. Would prefer it not be a law, as that probably means a lot of nonsense with it (i.e., you cannot ...

Always amazed by ebay. I can't believe people actually get in bidding wars on that site because they have to "win" the auction. If there's competition for an item, losing is winning. I often start auctions at a very low price without a reserve to encourage this behavior...bit of a gamble though, as ...

Endo - my mother's 2008 ext cab 2WD with the 4.8L has been seeing 22MPG, what does the DOD 5.3 get? I'm still waiting to see how well DOD works with some miles, and what the failure modes are, before I start looking at them. Also...craigslist has more stock Silverado 16s and 17s with new OEM tires on them than a big horse can ****. Typically $400. The OEM tires tend to be crap, but some are decent. Current truck has 285/70R17 BFG A/Ts on Tahoe Z71 wheels that were picked up from CL for 350. Just keep lurking it, and you...

Great looking truck, does NOT look like its mileage. In my dumb opinion... Red looks great, don't change it! If you're going 6L80, go 5.3DOD at the same time, they make more mileage in the new trucks than the 4.8. Snag the motor+trans from a wrecked 09+ Silverado XFE (probably not easy the find at t...
